Machine Operator in Gloucester City, NJ, is responsible for operating and maintaining various types of equipment used in the citrus processing and packaging process. This includes ensuring the efficient and safe operation of equipment like baggers, box formers, bin washers, bin fillers, bin tippers, palletizers, and fruit sizers. They also handle tasks like product changeovers, quality monitoring, and assisting with training other team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
Setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment, including performing start-up/shutdown procedures, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
Quality Control:
Monitoring product quality, making adjustments as needed, and ensuring adherence to production standards.
Inventory Management:
Utilizing computer systems to track inventory and print labels.
Communication and Collaboration:
Effectively communicating with team members and leads regarding production status, issues, and solutions.
Training and Coaching:
Assisting with training and coaching other operators on proper equipment operation and maintenance.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensuring the safe operation of equipment and adhering to safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience: Prior experience operating similar equipment is often required.
Technical Skills: Ability to understand and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage daily logs, maintain equipment, and track performance metrics.
Physical Requirements: Ability to frequently lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds and potentially more.
Communication Skills: Effective communication and teamwork skills are essential.
Knowledge of Inventory and Quality Systems: Understanding of inventory management systems (like Oracle WMS) and quality control procedures is often preferred.
